WOW. That’s all I can say about this Prime Week.
Between Amazon to Walmart flips, hidden Walmart clearance, Walmart discounts, Amazon discounts, Target discounts, and a couple other miscellaneous deals — spend in the last three days has crossed north of 25k! Sales are solid too of course, but most of my excitement comes from knowing how these current discounted toys will be performing in the future.
Aside from that, it’s also been a busy week on the content and general ecommerce update fronts.
Let’s dive in!
IMPORTANT Alert for Walmart Sellers
This week and last there was a wave consisting of dozens of suspensions of Walmart sellers for ‘circumvention’. There is still a lot of mystery surrounding this wave, and Walmart so far has not provided any guidance to the sellers affected (or so I’ve heard).
This prompted me to poke around in my account settings to make sure everything was up to par. Sure enough, there were actually two notifications inside my Walmart Seller Center settings in the ‘Business Information’ and ‘Contacts’ section.
Here’s what is spooky. I only know of one person who received the email notification to update this information. That email was followed up with an email from the person’s Walmart rep saying to update their info ASAP to avoid suspension.
Related to the recent ban wave? Not sure. But it’s terrifying to think that these sort of account information changes are needed to avoid suspension and Walmart has dropped the ball on communicating them to everyone.
So, if you haven’t received the email and haven’t checked, GO NOW!
How I Navigated Prime Week
This video was posted right as Prime Week began, so it may not be as helpful now as it was upon release, but I think there are some solid pointers in here for how to navigate future sales. Also, I talk about some leads I was chasing that could be relevant in the future.
LEGO Theme Analysis Series is Back!
Starting a couple months earlier than last year so we aren’t cutting it close. But yes, I will be analyzing every single retiring LEGO set over the next couple of months, culminating with a list of all of the sets I’m chasing after as the year comes to a close. We kick things off with Minecraft for a couple reasons, one of which is I found what I believe to be a solid sleeper set.

Lots of LEGO Promos Going On…
A $150 GWP threshold, some discounts, and extra VIP points on several sets. Sprinkle on some VIP rewards into your order and it’s not a bad time to start buying.
Jurassic World and Superman Opening Strong
I don’t think we expected anything less of these two super franchises, but Jurassic World is opening with solid box office numbers and decent word of mouth. Critics of course hate dinosaurs, but fans seemingly welcome it to the franchise. Superman is opening to very strong reception and box office numbers.
What does that mean for us? Well, strong movies = the toys are likely to become strong investments. Expect Rebirth toys to be very profitable by the time the next Jurassic installment rolls around and the same with Superman.
Can Fantastic Four follow suit?
Gonna wrap things up there folks, catch you next week!
