Are there any services you recommend for receiving alerts for retailer/item sales instead of manually checking regularly? I'm using Brickhawk but it isn't 100% accurate.
Nothing beats manual. I'm not familiar with Brickhawk. The best thing to do is stay up to date on upcoming sales/events are and know what time sales roll over. For example, Target always has a new sale every Sunday that starts at midnight PST. LEGO has a monthly calendar that is usually shared by LEGO influencers and they operate on an EST schedule, so their site updates at midnight EST. Etc.
