Toys to Retirement Weekly Wrap-Up #36
Hello friends,
We’re nearing the finish line of June!
154 days until Black Friday.
171 days until we enter “peak week” for toy selling.
Hope everyone is chugging along nicely with their sales, prep, repricing, organizing, and all that good stuff. Let’s review the week!
Deciding When to Sell Your Toys
Did a follow up video lesson to a popular tweet I had from last week where I analyze some actual toys in my portfolio and tell you why or why not I am deciding to sell them now for another opportunity. It’s been pretty well-received, paid subscribers make sure you check it out here:
Start Monitoring Jurassic, Superman, and Fantastic Four Merch
We are entering Blockbuster season, with a few billion-dollar potential movies lined up in the coming weeks. Now is the time to start monitoring trends in merch for these movies and see if you can catch any worthwhile flips, especially if you’re into FBM. Trailers are being heavily marketed, actors are doing their press tours, and hype should be at their all-time highs in the coming weeks. Pay attention!
Speaking of hit movies…
Lilo & Stitch 2 live-action has been greenlit by Disney. The film will hit a billion at the global box office in the next few weeks, so it was only a matter of time before this was going to be announced. It’s rumored to be an original story, so I’d expect several elements that provide ‘merch opportunities’ for Disney, which in turn are merch opportunities for us. The best way to prepare for Stitch 2? Buy stuff from Stitch 1. But not yet! Plenty of time for Stitch 1 merch to end up on clearance and we still don’t have a release date for number 2 yet.
Upcoming LEGO Goldmine?
First, an INCREDIBLE GWP coming July 1 for a $160 threshold. We are over the halfway point of 2025. If you have the capital, now is the time to start snagging LEGO store exclusives you believe in. I hope you guys didn’t sleep on the Jane Austen GWP from last week, it’s selling for $60-70…
Not sure if this will replicate it, but I think it gets close (hopefully).
Additionally, this will be in the Rewards section on LEGO on July 1. This will also print money, especially if it’s in limited print like the Mario shell and is limited per account.
Gonna wrap things up there, in the middle of making space for a bunch of pallets and need to get back to it, catch you all in July!
