Hey friends,
Been a busy week over here. Really been putting my head down and prepping as many toys as I can. There’s a very real possibility that the shipments that go out this week and next very well could be the last ones that make it in before Christmas (if they even do), so get to shipping!
Unfortunately, Amazon has shown a lot of signs of struggle these last few weeks — AWD denying shipments, certain fulfillment centers glitching and not being able to receive inventory, and several bugs regarding throughout the platform. Hopefully these all get ironed out ASAP and aren’t a sign of what’s to come these next two months.
With that being said, I am slowly starting to sense the Q4 magic as sales slowly trend up and seller counts trend down.
Anyhow, let’s recap what got added to the site this week:
Three new LEGO deep dives!
I hope I’m not overwhelming you guys with the LEGO content, but I am really trying to knock out all of the important themes by Black Friday so we have a solid idea of what we’re targeting before the year ends. The three themes I analyzed this week all have potential winners that I’ll be picking up, along with a ton of sets that are worth monitoring for bigger discounts. Check out DUPLO, Jurassic World, and Disney here:
Emergency LEGO News…
There was an adjustment to the retirement list as well as a set I missed in my TECHNIC analysis that actually could be a big winner. Both of these things impact what I’m buying this year. Take a look at what changed down below, as well as get the latest on an upcoming GWP:
Peak Season Priorities
One of my most well-received articles so far was published earlier this week. I’ve heard from several people that they all took something from it. Whether it was the necessary motivation to list their death pile or one of the unique techniques/strategies I use, it seems like the article has something for everyone. Take a look and see what I’ve been focusing on as we get closer to Black Friday to make as much money as possible:
Latest from the Box Office…
Some interesting things to note this week.
Venom 3 is being poorly received by critics. Usually these films are better received by audiences, but unfortunately it seems like this ending to the trilogy is exactly like the rest of the franchise — weak. With that being said, the leaked post credit scenes do seem to be setting up a nice future for Venom, just as expected. Don’t worry, if there was any money to be made on these post credit scenes, I would spoil them for you. Doesn’t seem like there will be though. Despite the mediocre reception, I still expect ASINs B09YVTW6XY (LEGO Venom Figure), B08NFDK64Q (LEGO Venom Helmet), and B084PTVQKL (Marvel Legends Venom) to significantly jump in price this Q4. Might be worth selling if you’re still holding.
Tom Holland has been on the road promoting his new alcohol-free beer. He has been asked about upcoming Spider-Man projects and it does seem Spider-Man 4 is very early in development. From the sound of it, they are still settling on a script, but I can’t imagine it will be long before we start to get more details and leaks on which characters may be appearing. As toy investors, we love to hear about which characters are coming so that we can buy the appropriate toys ahead of time, if there are any.
The Blade movie has been delayed indefinitely. This project has been experiencing delay after delay and just can’t get started. The Marvel Legends Blade (B0BKHG2FGP) figure jumped in price once he appeared in Deadpool & Wolverine, but looks like he may not have another upcoming catalyst any time soon. My hope is they scrap the movie, but may have him appear alongside other street level characters like Daredevil, Moon Knight, and Ghost Rider in the near future. We need more heroes with great designs to get the attention they deserve so that their merchandise jumps in price! We can’t always rely on Spider-Man and Wolverine to pay the bills.
James Gunn’s DC reboot of Superman is taking form, with a shared image of Supes and his beloved dog Krypto looking upon Earth. I think we can expect a different take on Superman next year than we’ve been used to with Zack Snyder’s darker depiction. James Gunn has a good track record with Guardians of the Galaxy, and I believe he can breathe new life into these characters that should help elevate Superman sales on the platform next Q4. For reference, B08T245ZJT (McFarlane Superman from Zack Snyder Universe), despite its absolutely MASSIVE production run, has still reached $70 a couple of years later. The figure was available for as low as $14.99 in some instances — talk about an incredible investment. Hopefully Gunn can bring that same level of demand to Superman next year.
Halloween Holds
Lastly, just want to remind you guys that stores like Home Depot may have already started clearancing out their Halloween decorations this year. I don’t personally partake in holding seasonal stuff anymore, but I do know people who make a pretty penny by holding decorations for a year and selling on Facebook Marketplace and eBay. I can’t recommend Amazon for these sorts of items, as I’ve heard of some of these brands being protective and filing claims, but if local cash flips are your thing — might be some opportunity for you.
Okay guys, that about wraps things up. I’ll be tackling more LEGO analyses next week and will keep you updated on any pertinent info I hear. For now, it’s back to packing toys like my life depends on it (it does).
