Toys to Retirement Weekly Wrap-Up #34
Hello friends,
I hope everyone has seen a little uptick in sales this week. I definitely am feeling like I’m seeing more potential “dad-toys” selling at a faster rate. I did do some major pricing overhauls this week like I mentioned in the previous weekly wrap-up, and it has proven to be super effective.
Let’s dive into the last seven days!
June 2025 LEGO Update
Earlier this week I posted the monthly LEGO update for June. We lost a solid set with retirement extension, but gained a potential new retiree we may want to snag later in the year.
I talk about that, plus some current discounts and such, here:
Hasbro Rolling Back Some Tariff Pricing
There have been rumblings, but was very excited to receive this email from one of my distributors about Hasbro rolling back to pre-tariff pricing on several SKUs.
Hoping to also see this reflected at the major retailers like Target, who have been having some funky price tactics going on.
Deloitte Allowing Annual Stipend To Be Used on LEGO
Another reason to invest in LEGO! Deloitte, employing hundreds of thousands around the world, is allowing its annual $1,000 stipend to be used on LEGO (among other things).
Always fun to see our niche highlighted outside of the toy-world, and who knows — maybe more customers?

Mattel and OpenAI Collaborating
Sorry, even in the toy world, it seems we can’t escape AI.
The press release is short, give it a read here:

Where do we think this leads? Is M3gan becoming reality?
In a few years, will you be walking down the toy aisle in Target and Barbie will start begging you to pick her over Draculaura?
My brain is thinking of the ways this could be interesting for toy investors. My first thought is the people who have sold the original iPods decades later in sealed packaging for tens of thousands of dollars.
Perhaps this is a chance to invest in the first major AI-powered collectible toy?
Keep an eye on this.
Speaking of M3gan…
Thoughts? Not sure if this one is made to order or just hasn’t been popular enough to sell out, but Mattel Creations launched their Monster High M3gan doll this week. Hard to ignore with the second movie coming out (which looks totally ridiculous by the way).
Amazon is not supposed to carry this one, so the price may be profitable automatically without Amazon to hold the price back. Just depends if Mattel Creations will keep it stocked or put it on sale later.
If it piques your interest, you can grab it here: https://creations.mattel.com/products/monster-high-skullector-m3gan-doll-hyv94
On a long term scale, hard to lose, though it will likely be dependent upon how the second movie performs.
Alright friends, wrapping it up there. Hope everyone has a happy Father’s Day!
