Hello friends,
Back from vacation and ready to start posting again. Hope everyone had a lovely week!
Here’s the first update since I got home:
Some toys worth keeping an eye on…
I had some down time on vacation and stayed vigilant with the product research. I put out an article yesterday with some toys I think are worth watching for further discounts, and some may even be worth buying right away. Two of the leads are time-sensitive, large dollar purchases, but I think they’re going to net me a few hundred bucks each. Check them out here if you’re a paid subscriber:
Marvel Movie Delays and Info
It always hurts to hear of delays, especially when the product you’re holding can be influenced by it. Unfortunately, Marvel has delayed Doomsday and Secret Wars by about seven months. Doomsday will still be coming out next year during the holidays, which I suppose isn’t the worst thing in the world since the merch will have a double catalyst with Q4.
The exciting news though is the rumors are seeming to be more and more reliable that Ghost Rider may be appearing in Doomsday. This has me tempted to move last year’s Ghost Rider LEGO set from the “flip this Q4 pile” to the “LEGO 401(k) pile”. We’ll see how it does this Christmas, but if he makes a big screen appearance I see this jumping to $75+ pretty easily.
Stitch breaking records…
As expected, Stitch is estimated to open with an insane 170-180m. The movie will likely be profitable in its first weekend due to the modest 100m production budget. I am definitely feeling the Stitch love and seeing some investments pay off. Figures I was selling for $32 a couple of months ago are moving consistently at $45.
Let this serve as inspiration to try and plan ahead when possible for huge movie releases like this. Not only is the movie release popular, but Stitch will be close to the top of many kids’ Christmas lists this year.
Great LEGO opportunities right now
These are the moments that make ordering LEGO early in the year worth it. A nice $150 threshold GWP (Baby Astronaut)? Check. Phenomenal reward to tack onto your purchase (Mario Shell selling for $70 on eBay)? Check. Discounted gift cards (giftcards.com with code SUNNY10)? Check.
No brainer right now to stack some retiring exclusive LEGO that you believe in, even though we’re many months early.
Get to it, pretty sure most of these are for a limited time.
New Jurassic World Rebirth Trailer
I won’t stop talking about this film until it’s out because zooming out on a several year timeline, there will be lots of money to be made.
Not only are we getting some classic dinos that we love, but they’re really pushing for these mutant/combo dinos like the Distortus Rex, and a Pterosaur/Raptor hybrid. All that to say, once they’re discontinued, they will steadily climb in price.
I expect massive over-production at the start, but will definitely be grabbing them as they inevitably go on sale later in the year or next.
Going to wrap things up there folks, 7 pallets on the way and am struggling to figure out how I’m going to fit them. Wish me luck! Talk next week.
