Toys to Retirement Weekly Wrap-Up #35
Hello friends,
Happy Friday! Can’t believe we’re so close to already closing out June. Definitely seeing an uptick in sales since doing a lot of repricing, and perhaps a lot of father’s received Amazon gift cards for Father’s Day.
Also Prime Day has officially been announced for July 8-11, so inventory you want to be available for those sales needs to be sent in now. It’s a good time, as always, to review your inventory and see what is showing signs of a weak trajectory. Nothing wrong with taking those profits (or breaking even, or even minimal losses) now, in favor of better opportunities.
I actually talked a bit about that this week on Twitter:
Anyways, let’s review the week.
New Video Lesson Analyzing Some Hot SKUs
Been getting a ton of love on my latest video for paid subscribers. I did a video analysis of some popular SKUs that are popping up on lead lists, on the timeline, and people are murmuring about. I talk about why I am or am not buying. Seems like people picked up a lot of tips in it, so go watch!
Jon Bernthal Will Appear as The Punisher in Upcoming Spider-Man Film
Not only is this great news for toy investors due to him having a figure coming out this Q4, but it also means we may be seeing Daredevil (among others) on the big screen too as well. You always hear me preach how important character design and street level heroes are for toy investing — hopefully Disney leans more into these characters than their recent galaxy-level threats.
Possible Leaked Upcoming Marvel Legends
Always take leaks with a grain of salt, but some of these just make ‘sense’ and I could see most, if not all of this leak being true. While it’s still early, standout figures here for me are the Marvel Rivals wave, Maximum Thor and Spidey, more X-Men ‘97, and possibly Wolverinepool. Many other great things here, but definitely need to see if any are fan channel, exclusive, and of course that they look good.
LEGO GWP and Double VIP Points!
It’s technically not early in the year anymore. If you haven’t started loading up on some of your favorite retiring LEGO store exclusives yet, now is the best time to start.
Not only do we get double VIP points, but a solid GWP has appeared at a $150 threshold. Even if you only net $20 on it (likely we will net more), it’s still a solid discount in combination with the double VIP points. Also, don’t forget to use your discounted LEGO gift cards from earlier in the year and cash back!
I’ll start doing more in-depth analysis on this year’s retiring LEGO sets in a month or two, just want to make sure the retirement list is as accurate as it can be.
Going to wrap things up here friends, hope everyone has a lovely weekend!
